Baldelli signs with home town sox , Smoltz next?

With the Yankees adding all these big market players, such as C.C Sabathia, A.J Burnett, and Mark Texeria, many people are speculating whether or not the Red Sox can hold at top of the A.L East. With the addition of Brad Penny, and John Smoltz to boost their rotation. They also add Baldelli to spiffy up their offense and defense. The 27-year-old Baldelli was limited to just 28 regular-season games in 2008 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs and a .263 average after being diagnosed with mitochondrial disorder, which caused constant fatigue according to MLB.com. Moments ago Yahoosports.com reports that John Smoltz agrees to a deal worth $5 million dollars with $5 million dollars in incentives. The 21 year veteran quoted “I want to finish my career as a starter”. If you really come to think of it does money buy championships? Or can they be like the Red Sox and spend as little money as possible and still win.
